When you can’t move from home, the best way to visit museums is to do it virtually. Today we talk about the MV Augusta one, where you can see the entrepreneurial miracle created by the Agusta family. The “real” museum is in Cascina Costa, near Varese, where the first MV factory was established. We talk about it with Enrico Sironi, 83 years old, one of the managers of the structure

“The museum – he says – has been inaugurated in Gallarate in 1977 and was there until 1992, when we were obliged to close. We opened once again here, in Cascina Costa – where MV used to produce helicopters – since 2002. We have 6 helicopters, 67 motorcycles (15 of them are racing model, one for each year we participated to the World Championship). We managed to retrieve one for each series, including the now precious MV 600 and 750. The museum is structured on two floors: one dedicated almost exclusively to motorcycles from the 1940s and 1950s, the other since 1960s to 1975. The bike I dream? The first motorcycle built with the Vespa name, a 98 2-stroke, two gears, semi-rigid chassis from 1946, then replaced with the MV 98. Of this MV-Vespa we have one left on loan from an exhibition Rimini collector. The most precious pieces of the museum? In addition to the racing bikes, the 50s models, the boom years of the motorcycle in Italy, and those of the last production of the 70s. The new Russian property – concludes Enrico Sironi – in collaboration with our Foundation, had planned to celebrate the 75th anniversary in June with a big event, but I fear that in these times of pandemic the celebration of this anniversary is very unlikely”.
